How to Read Poker Players

Ways to tell a player has a winning hand:

1. A good sign of a strong hand is when the player is uninterested while the hand is still in. The player will be pretending that he/she is not excited when he/she actually is.
2. While the player is placing a bet, if he has trembling hands, then it's a sure shot sign of having a good hand. Emotions usually trickle down to your extremities when you cannot control them, so watch out for this.
3. For some players, their breathing becomes more intense and more prominent as they start playing a good hand. Watch out for this, as this is one of the strongest signs that a player has a winning or strong hand.
4. If you notice a player acting nonchalant or indifferent, it is probably because he is trying to overact. He probably has a really good hand and wants to disguise it. This often comes across as a player who seems like he is not bothered in the proceedings.
5. Keep a close look on people's eyes during a hand. What some people do is that they look down at their chips before looking at their cards because they want to see just how much they can get when they win. People often do this without thinking and this is a good time to catch your opponents blunder as you can catch their winning hand.

1. If a player looks down on you to imply that he has strength, he is usually hiding something because he might have a weak hand. He may have something decent or something that could be drawn, but he knows that there is more than just a possibility that someone else has a better hand.
2. Another way to tell if someone has a weak hand is, if you see them holding their breath. This kind of technique is mostly seen in inexperienced players.

1. Suppose that a flop shows the possibility of giving someone a flush or a straight draw, look out for people re-checking their hole cards. They are mostly just checking to see whether they have a piece of it.
2. If a player looks hesitant and takes a long time to place a bet, you can be sure that he is calculating his losses in his head. He is most probably checking to see if he can catch the cards he needs to complete his drawing hand. This is a tell-tale sign of an inexperienced player.
