The following is a strategy to follow while playing the game that should make it easier to reach the top five. Initial Stages:

• Keep a close watch on your opponents. Newbie's will be betting big and raising a lot. The best thing to do at this point is to play it low and keep an eye out for everyone else. Be sure to fold all but premium hands in the early positions. Make sure you preserve your chips in the start. There will be plenty of occasions during the later half of the game when you will need as many as possible. Middle Stages:
• At this point in time it is very important to steal as many blinds as you can, while at the fag end of the game, it will be an important strategy to maintain as much of your stack as possible. Focus on the medium stacks for now and the ones who are a little tight on their chips. They will be the easy targets.
• Based on previous experiences, you should be able to judge whether or not an opponent will re-raise when you 'raise'. This should give you a good clue about whether or not to 'raise'. As far as possible, try to avoid calling any raises at all. Only if you are sure that your hand is good enough should you go in and 'raise'.
• Remember that at this stage, one of the most important things to do is to maintain the size of your stack, while still betting enough so that you can catch some of the other players out. Latter Stages:
• This is the crucial part of the game. One of the things that you should always remember is that you should never call all-in during a hand. You should only do so if you have a strong hand like an all-Ace hand or if your stack is huge or really small. This is when your observations from the last two rounds will come in handy the most. Make sure you can call on how the opponents behave and what their next move might be based on their stack size.
• One point you should also remember is that folding could actually turn out to be a profitable tactic if you are at a table that is playing aggressively. It is very likely that at least two players will go bust during that time, which would swoop you back into contention.
