Mixed Holdem

About the game: Poker as a game has been growing in popularity for a long time now and there have been many variants that have been invented that suit different game plays and different people. Most of the variants still require the same dosage of skill and dedication in equal amounts and that is what keeps this game alive and kicking. With the advent of poker online, there seems to be no stopping poker and its growth. One of the newest variants that have emerged is Mixed Holdem. This game of poker involves a mix of No-Limit Hold Em and Limit Holdem.

The thing to remember initially is that each dealer buttons circle around the table signals the initiation of a new round. After that the blinds will change according to the betting rounds.

Mixed Holdem

There are many guidelines that you can follow in terms of playing a game of Mixed Holdem.

  • One of the main objectives of the game is to tackle players that are overly aggressive in each and every round. This means that if someone plays as many hands as possible during the Limit Holdem round then it means that there is a very wide range of hands that they will be playing thereon. You should not be bothered about the position that you hold at the table at this point because all that matters is the fact that you should gain an advantage by re-raising them during the pre-flop and the post-flop parts of the game.
  • The next thing to keep in mind is that you should always keep an eye on the players who call a lot during the Limit Holdem part of the game, because all they do is follow the game right up till the river to see what cards were played, all the while holding their cards very close to their chest. The best strategy to adopt during such a situation is that of calling strong hands and not bluffing.
  • Having said that, if you notice that some players are playing very tight during the Limit holdem part of the game and very loose during the No-Limit Holdem part of the game, then you should alter your strategy accordingly and start playing a more aggressive pre-flop game when you have a strong and decent hand.
  • Remember that players who check or call in Limit holdem can be read immediately and should be taken advantage of. There will be no other time to tackle such a player, so you should do it whenever there is an opportunity. Just like in any other game, one has to keep a keen eye on the opponents in order to make the right calls and make sure that you make it into the subsequent round that will enable you to win the pot. Another tactic you could use to your advantage is making the opponents think they have cornered you into a trap and then playing them for a completely different strategy. This is sure to catch most of your rivals out and will give you an upper hand in the game.
